AT Tools for Virtual Field Trips
Assistive Technology needed for Virtual Field Trips can include devices ranging from no-tech to high-tech. The primary AT tool is the computer and this could be your traditional desktop computer, a laptop, Ipad, Smartboard, anything that allows access to the internet. Students can even use their cell phones to take VFT.
Other forms of AT can be tools that help student sit or position themselves while at a computer. This might include:
a yoga ball, a seat with arm rests, a soft or adjustable seat cushion, or even a bean bag chair where student can lay on while using an Ipad
For students who are unable to control a computer with their hands, there is a device available that allows students to control the operations of a computer with the movement of their eyes. Eyegaze, allows physically handicapped students the ability to access VFT.
